The search is on for the UK’s top sprayer operators as entries open for the Farm Sprayer Operator of the Year (FSOOTY) 2026. The winner will be crowned in the Sprays & Sprayers Arena at Cereals 2026 and will win an all-expenses trip to Agritechnica 2027 in Hannover, Germany.
Organised by Syngenta in association with the Voluntary Initiative and EI Operator, FSOOTY recognises and rewards the skill, experience, and professionalism of farm sprayer operators, while promoting best practice and environmental stewardship.
Scott Cockburn, Syngenta Application Specialist and FSOOTY judge, explains:
“FSOOTY is about the operator – not the equipment or facilities. We look at how entrants manage their applications safely and effectively, dealing with real-world challenges to maximise efficacy and protect the environment.”
Entering is straightforward: operators begin with an online questionnaire. Successful applicants provide more technical detail and top spraying tips, from which three finalists are selected by an independent panel. Finalists are invited to Cereals 2026, hosted overnight, before the winner is announced on the first day of the show in the Sprays & Sprayers Arena.
FSOOTY 2026 offers sprayer operators a unique opportunity to share knowledge, learn from the UK’s best, and gain recognition for their expertise.
